Mowing (March to November)

1/ in intensively maintained areas

In intensively maintained areas (usually residential areas) we offer two types of services.

a.       1st category maintenance (preferred)

The work includes not only mowing the lawn area, but the collection and removal of grass. In this category the height of grass reaches the maximum of 8 to 10 cm.

As quality standard, we leave stubble as high as 3 to 4 cm.Trimming along verges and around trees is included.

Obstruction of mowing like rupture, malfunction of the irrigation system or heavily treaded grass should be logged and reported to the Client.

During trimming, the crust of young trees, especially at the root collars might be hurt due to the improper usage of appliance operating with cords, which causes devastation. In this case the Client is due for a compensation to recover the damage.

b.      2nd category maintenance

The same as above, allowing grass growth to as high as the maximum of 15 cm.

2/ in extensive areas

The secondary purpose of mowing is the protection against weeds, with special concern of ragweed. Timing is adjusted to blooming periods. Work is done generally from May to the end of September, repeated 2 or 3 times a year.

The goal is to keep the impression of a well maintained area.

The timing of last maintenance should enable a maximum lawn height of 6 to 8 cm at the start of the winter, the lawn surface must be free from fallen leaves (it usually happens in late October).

Raking in spring, collection of fallen leaves in autumn

After winter, our task is the collection and removal of all yard waste found on the grass surface, e.g. fallen leaves and twigs. It’s usually combined with the ventilation of the lawn. It can either be done using a rake, or by a verticutter. In both cases, the scarification depth is 1 to 1.5 cm. Verticutters can be used only on intensively maintained and perfectly plane surfaces because on uneven surfaces the blade doesn’t reach the deeper located parts.

Before winter, the greenery is collected either by raking, sweeping or vacuuming and is removed as well.

Nutrient supply in intensively maintained areas

Top-dressing in the spring is performed using fertilizers rich in nitrogen (e.g. nitrate of ammonia, Micramid) or special lawn care products produced by SCOTTS, by spilling 5g of active substance per square metre (10 to 20 g granules). Before fertilizing, the lawn must be mowed short. The substance must be spilled only to dry surfaces, its steadiness is ensured by using centrifugal broadcasters. If there is no rain after the fertilization, than we recommend to irrigate until the granules are melted.

In areas of category 1, this process must be repeated 2 to 3 times during the summer.

In all intensively maintained areas, we perform a basic fertilization before the winter, with providing active substance per square metre N: 6 g, P2O5: 4 g, K2O: 4 g és MgO: 2 g (which usually corresponds to 50 to 60 g granules).

Depending on the weather, irrigation needs to be provided continuously. We take responsibility for all damage caused by not performing it properly.

Client ensures a proper water supply required for the irrigation. Any disorder will be immediately reported to the Client by phone and email.

In case of using a watering system, its failures must be reported to the Call Centre of the Client via email, desirably in the form of a quotation for the work.

Irrigation of bushes and plants

As a general rule, bushes and plants need to be watered before the soil dries out. E.g. the visibility of the footprint on a short-mowed lawn is the sign of the soil being dry. Instead of frequent watering with small water doses, our recommendation is less frequent watering with higher water volume, depending on the hydration capacity of the soil.

Irrigation of trees

The yearly water demand of trees is at least 400 litres. The volume needs to be provided between April and end of August. Watering may need to be increased depending on the precipitation. Usually more watering is required in May and August.

Lawn renewal

Frayed lawn must be oversowed. The optimal time for it is the beginning of April or the period from mid-August to mid-September. At regular weather conditions, oversowing in these periods may succeed even without additional watering. The required rate of seeding is 20 g per square metre.

The frayed lawn must be scarified by either raking or harrowing or using a verticutter. The planting depth should be 0.5 to 1 cm. After seeding, the surface must be cogged down with a light wheel. Depending on the grass type, the time for coming up is 7 to 20 days. During this entire period the soil must be continuously kept wet.

Chemical weed control

In public areas the killing of dicotyledonous weed from lawn is performed using licensed herbicides. It must be spilled at least 3 days after mowing in a windless weather, to a dry surface. After spilling no mowing is not required for 7 to10 days.

Replacement of plants and trees (upon individual order)

The replacement of dried-out or damaged plants is performed using plants corresponding to the Hungarian Standard for nursery gardens (MSZ 12170). The size of the planting hole is 40*40*40 cm. The replacement needs to match the original species, especially if that one has been evolving progressively. We take warranty for the rooting of the replaced plants.

During replacement of trees, we try to match the species and size of the original tree. If the original species is not recommended in the area, we take the written approval of our Client to use a different species.

The replacement trees meet the Hungarian Standard for nursery gardens (MSZ 12170). The size of the planting hole is 1*1*1 m. In case of improper soil quality, the soil needs to be replaced or each hole needs to be added 60 kg of ripe compost or 40 kg of dung manure.

We take warranty for the rooting of the replaced trees. For prices, see Attachment 5.

Hoeing and clearing

In bush and plant areas, clearing and scarification needs to be continuous too. The surface needs to be free from weed the whole year which also serves the better utilization of the rainwater as well as of the irrigated water. It may be ensured either via hoeing or by chemical control. The watering bowl under the plants must be at least 50 cm the whole year.

Weed needs to be removed from the gaps of the pavement as well as from the walls and their ruptures, too.

Ground fully covered by plants also needs permanent clearing!

Hedge needs to be trimmed 3 times yearly.

Pruning of plants

Plant spraying on annual sprout (e.g. Hypericum, Caryopteris) need to be cut back in the spring, Thickets need to be thinned via trimming at least 2 to times yearly. Sticks grown to cover pavement, need to be cut continuously. Lopping needs to be removed too.

Tree shaping

Trimming of trees for shaping is performed 5 years long after their plantation. The free growth of the leader limb needs to be enabled. Sticks grown too thick, need to be cut.

The maintenance of tree trunks is very important too (cutting stem shoots and root spears).

A distance of 1500 mm between tree crowns and electrical cables needs to be ensured by trimming.

Thank you.
